Tigger Melon, an heirloom variety
grown for its fragrance.

7/25/10 EEP! Where have I been ? Moving the garden (& Jay & I) 1000 miles due East back to N.C.!!!! Hmmm. I've got some catching up to do here! I'll start with what's at the top of my brain & work down.
We have moved onto an old homestead (of sorts) with many OLDE, large specimen plants...like huge camellias that I will have to wait half a year before I see & hopefully smell them bloom. Peonies too. I am SO excited! Plus a new place on the planet means meeting new plant friends! During this transition I'm working a few days/week at a very nice plant nursery & came on board to catch many spring bloomers; the most impressive being a Weeping Fragrant Snowbell! 0 my goodness that dainty creature was positively covered in scented, white dangling bells & captured my heart instantly!!!

3/8/10 AHHHH!!!! THIS time of year!

Sweet, sweet, sweet.
My heart is heavy because I'm getting ready to move & cannot move all my treasures with me.

1/24/10 Most Precious is what I call a flower that is going to bloom this time of year. The Prunus mume is starting her song. Also known as 'flowering apricot'; it is a many tiered experience not unlike a rich fruit and pastry dessert dusted with a touch of cinnamon and clove. The beauty of the flowers visually is enough to stop you mid breath.
This past summer someone ran over her so she only has a few branches; dotted with perhaps only 20 fat buds, so I doubt there will be enough to distill. I'll try tincturing.

2/14/10 Or eating! Sprinkled over slices of blood orange I had a most entrancing Valentine Salad!

3/8/10 Unbelievable is what I call these flowers that have bloomed on the twigs for over a month, in the shelter of the greenhouse. Out in the raw winter weather, a blossom may last 3 days! Note to self...mind where you place this one in the new garden!

1/7/10 Laying on the couch inhaling free floating Paperwhite molecules deep into my psyche where perhaps they will germinate into... 0 my! Let's wait and see!
